The Guayabales and San Antonio projects are located within the Marmato district of the prolific Mid-Cauca Belt of western-central Colombia. The Mid-Cauca Belt is one of the most underexplored mineral belts globally with a rich history of artisanal gold mining from Pre-Colombian and Colonial periods.

Most recent modern exploration, that only commenced in the early 2000´s, has proven numerous large porphyry gold and copper-gold discoveries (La Colosa – 28.5 MOz Au; Nuevo Chaquiro – 4.7 Mt of Copper metal, 7.1 Moz Gold, 93 Moz Silver and 85 Kt Molybendum metal for over 30 million gold equivalent ounces) and porphyry-related gold-silver vein systems (Buritica +11 MOz Au, Marmato +6 MOz Au).

Individual deposits are hosted in the Romeral-Cauca structural corridor; a tectonized basement complex containing Paleozoic sediments and Mesozoic oceanic rocks that are overlain by Oligocene siliciclastic and Miocene arc-volcanic rocks. Metal mineralization ages range from 9 to 5.6 million years and are directly related to the injection of Miocene intrusive suites into the basement complex.

The Marmato District of the Mid-Cauca Belt displays and unusually high concentration of both porphyry copper-gold and porphyry-related precious metal deposits indicating its exceptional pedigree for further mineral discoveries.

Guayabales

The Guayabales project lies 75 km to the south of Medellin and is located immediately along strike and adjacent to the Marmato gold mine. The project locates in the NW trending Marmato mineralized corridor and forms the immediate NW extension to this mineralized system. The Marmato gold district has a long history, being mined since pre-Colonial times, and was used as collateral to secure funding for the War of Independence against Spain. The Marmato gold deposit hosts a large artisanal and modern resource that encompasses an estimated +10 MOz Au global resource. The Guayabales project, along strike to the north-west and within 1 km of this gold resource, is characterized by a number of Miocene porphyry Cu-Au-Mo and Au-Mo intrusive centres that have been emplaced within Cretaceous mafic volcanic rocks, older Paleozoic schists and coeval, coeval intermediate volcanic rocks. The Encanto Shear Zone, a large north-west trending structure that has been reactivated numerous times, connects the Marmato orebodies to the Guayabales porphyry cluster. It is interpreted that these porphyry intrusives are the local heat and metal sources for the Marmato Au-Ag vein deposits.

The Guayabales host outcropping mineralized porphyry systems with excellent gold, copper and molybdenum grades.
